Annual Meeting of the Research Training Group
Annual Meeting 2024
To welcome our PhD students of the third generation to the research training group 2376, the one-week retreat was organized on September 1-6, 2024. This first retreat of the third group took again place at the Landhotel Klaukenhof, Lennestadt.
At the start of this week-long retreat, the new PhD students had the pleasure of meeting their new peers and introducing themselves by giving a brief overview of their projects. This was the beginning of a scientifically stimulating and engaging week!
The students were able to reach a common level of knowledge through many workshops and hands-on sessions organised by the Principal Investigators and some older students from previous generations. This was a great opportunity to bridge the gap between many different research approaches (from experiments to simulations) and different disciplines (from chemistry to physics). Everyone had the chance to get a good overview of all the different ways of researching confinement-controlled chemistry, and to discover how these different aspects can be combined.
The foundations have been laid for the emergence of new rich scientific collaborations!
Beyond building scientific connections, the aim of the retreat was also to build human connections between the new students. Not only could they discover new scientific techniques and approaches, but they could also discover new cultures by meeting international students from all over the world!
In order to create more bonds within the new group, it was also decided to confine not only the chemistry, but to confine the chemists as well! Indeed, the students were able to get to know each other during several social events, including a visit to the beautiful Atta limestone cave and a Escape Room board game night.
After this really intense and enriching week, the new students now have all of the keys in their hands to pursue their research with new perspectives and with new possible collaborations in mind!
