3rd International Symposium on
"Confinement-Controlled Chemistry"
(Co-Co Chem 2025) Ruhr University Bochum, ZEMOS 15.09.2025 - 17.09.2025
"Confinement-Controlled Chemistry"
(Co-Co Chem 2025)

We are excited to announce the 3rd international symposium on "Confinement-Controlled Chemistry", that will be held from the 15th to 17th September 2025 at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany.
This 3-day symposium, abbreviated as Co-Co Chem 2025, is organized by the DFG-funded research training group GRK 2376 and includes scientific talks by 18 distinguished national and international guest speakers, several contributed talks, two poster sessions and a conference dinner.
The goal of this symposium is to bring together senior scientists with early-career researchers, to contribute to the understanding on how the nature of a confining environment (cavity, channel, or interface), such as geometry (2D vs. 1D vs. 0D), surface texture, and surface chemistry affects the kinetics and thermodynamics of chemical reactions. Talks and poster presentations will address the topic of full and partial confinement for experimental and theoretical work on, e.g., (metal)organic cages/capsules, (self-organized) supramolecular cages, micelles, solid surfaces, porous materials, and nanotubes.
Within this symposium, new collaborations may be established, scientific results across the interdisciplinary field of research will be presented, and scientific exchange and flow of ideas during individual discussions between (inter)national experts and/or early-career researchers are anticipated. Hence, especially PhD students and postdocs are encouraged to apply with a poster or an oral contribution.
We are very much looking forward to meeting you at our scientific event!

Arrival

Arrival by train:
Due to its good connection to the public transportation system including ICE and RE, Bochum is easily accessible from various German cities and the international airport in Düsseldorf. From the Düsseldorf airport, you can take a direct train to the Bochum main station (Hauptbahnhof, travel takes roughly 40 minutes). From this railway station, take the subway U35 (direction Hustadt) to the station "Lennershof" (travel time of 10 minutes). The route from "Lennershof" to the conference venue "ZEMOS" is displayed on the map. Upon arrival at "Lennershof", go upstairs and turn left down the street. Follow the street and turn right at the end of the road into "Lennershofstraße". After turning left into the "Oststraße", you will see the venue (ZEMOS) on the right-hand side of the next crossroad.
Further information on the arrival by train or car can be found here.
Accomodation: On request, we will send you a list of recommended hotels. The majority of these hotels is located close to Bochum main station, roughly 6 km from the symposium venue.
